Leave No Trace: A Poem

Leave no trace;
as father and daughter trek on;
they set no pace.
Winding through trees;
crunching dried leaves;
all through the dark;
no finish, no start.
A daughter growing up, wishing for stability;
but a father nomadic by heart;
their survival dependent on ability and agility;
both being instinctual and smart.
A daughter growing up without a real home;
disconnected from a world beyond hers;
her and her father only left to roam;
constantly caught up in a stir.
Untapped potential kept inside;
nowhere to let it truly grow;
her father always there to guard and guide;
was he holding her back? We'll never know.
